Mapusua, Is a distinguished figure in the rugby world with an impressive playing career across New Zealand, England, and Japan.
Revered for his exceptional skills in the mid-field, Mapusua was on the cusp of earning a spot with the All Blacks but opted to represent his native Samoa.
As a player, Mapusua left an indelible mark on the global stage, participating in the 2007 and 2011 Rugby World Cups for Samoa and earning three selections for the Pacific Islanders team.
Following his retirement from playing in 2016, Mapusua seamlessly transitioned into coaching. His commitment to rugby development was evident during his tenure as a Coaching Development Officer for Otago Rugby.
In August 2020, Mapusua assumed the role of head coach for Manu Samoa, demonstrating a keen understanding of the game and a passion for leadership. In recognition of his substantial contributions to Samoan rugby, he was bestowed with the title of Vaovasamanaia in December 2020.
Mapusua led Samoa at the 2023 RWC.
During his tenure as Manu Samoa Head Coach – the side have won 11 or 19 matches.
